YOUR ULTIMATE DESTINATION FOR STRESS FREE BOARDING

Our Mission

At Rivendale Equestrian it is our goal to provide a stress free & happy experience for both horse and owner.

We believe that horses should have the opportunity to just be horses; be offered free choice & have as much turn out as possible. Most facilities keep horses on a tight daily schedule, we do things a bit differently.

Instead, our horses are provided with Dual Daily Wellness Checks (DDWC) within a four hour range in the am and pm. This allows for our horses to feel confident that they will receive their food and care without becoming dependent on a strict routine.

This style of equine management has led to our entire herd not exhibiting any negative behaviours such as calling or kicking at feeding times, food aggression & digestive upset. Our horses can often be seen laying down outside in large groups fully relaxed, maintaining a healthy weight and being overall happy and playful with their herd mates.

Colic is every horse owner's worst nightmare and although we are very skilled and confident in aiding a horse suffering colic, it is an event we would prefer our horses not to undergo.

We take pride in our Colic Prevention Plan, a daily maintenance plan we developed to help prevent colic. This plan includes:

  • Monitoring water intake & regularly checking for hydration levels
  • Providing free choice salt/mineral blocks
  • Offering a water buffet that rotates through an assortment of minerals & is tracked (coming spring 2025)
  • Providing an individualized feed program based on a healthy forage diet & adding salt to feed along with thoroughly soaking
  • Maintaining access to clean fresh water year round with the help of our insulated water trough boxes and water heaters in the winter
  • Feeding a special mash prior & during temperature swings
